Pastor’s Reflection

Save the Children by Marvin Gaye

Live, live for life
But let live everybody
Live life for the children
Oh, for the children
You see, let’s save the children
Let’s save all the children
Save the babies, save the babies
If you wanna love, you got to save the babies
All of the children
But who really cares
Who’s willing to try
Yes, to save a world
Yea, save our sweet world
Save a world that is destined to die

In a world of transition that is often confusing with cultural wars, political wars, and religious wars, I am encouraged by the way our students have stood up against Gun Violence.   My heart breaks because our country has become desensitized to seeing our children slaughtered in schools while attempting to justify senseless murder as a 2nd Amendment right.

  • How can we as citizens continue to support the politicians that fail society by choosing Guns over People and Greed over People?
  • How can we watch as the NRA funds and controls our politician to support selling assault rifles because their loyalty is to NRA rather than their voters?
  • How can we continue to be complacent which yields consent for this type of horrific slaughter to continue in our schools?

If this was happening in any other country; we would call this barbaric; yet in America, it has become business as usual because the Gun lobbyists rule on this issue.    What happened to our “Moral Compass” that tells us to choose life over death and right over wrong?  Who really cares?  Who is willing to try to save our children?

As parents, we should be as vocal as our children to stand up for their lives and stop this vicious slaughter in our schools.  When did adults become so narcissistic about power and control that we risk the future of our children lives?  Lord, help America to find our “Moral Compass” once again!   Lord, help us to Save our Children!
